Maud Menten

Maud Menten was a Canadian biochemist best known for her work in enzyme kinetics, particularly for co-developing the Michaelis-Menten equation. This equation describes how enzymes interact with substrates to catalyze reactions, helping to explain how the rate of these biochemical processes changes with differing substrate concentrations. Her contributions laid foundational principles in biochemistry and helped advance our understanding of metabolic processes in living organisms. Menten was also one of the first women to earn a medical degree in Canada, breaking barriers in a male-dominated field. Her legacy continues to influence science today.
