Matrifocal family

A matrifocal family is a family structure centered around a mother and her children, often without a permanent male partner. This type of family can arise in societies where women play a significant role in social and economic life, or in situations such as divorce or the absence of men due to migration or other reasons. In matrifocal families, the mother typically takes on the primary caregiving and decision-making roles, while extended family members, like grandparents or aunts, may also play important roles in the upbringing of the children.
