Mass and Volume

Mass is the amount of matter in an object, which determines how heavy it is regardless of its location. Volume is the space that an object occupies or takes up. Think of mass as the measurable "heaviness" and volume as the "size" or "bulk" of that object. For example, a rock and a box of cotton can have the same volume if they occupy the same space, but the rock will have more mass because it contains more matter. Mass helps us understand how much stuff is inside, while volume shows us how much space that stuff fills.
