Maryland Court System

The Maryland Court System consists of several levels designed to handle different types of cases. At the bottom are the District Courts, which deal with minor civil and criminal matters. Above them are the Circuit Courts, which handle more serious cases and appeals from District Courts. The Maryland Court of Special Appeals is the intermediate appellate court that reviews decisions from the Circuit Courts. Finally, the Maryland Court of Appeals is the state's highest court, addressing significant legal questions and cases. This structure ensures that issues can be heard and reviewed appropriately at various levels.
