Mary of Teck

Mary of Teck (1867-1953) was a British queen consort, married to King George V. Born in England but of German descent, she became queen in 1910. She was known for her strong support of her husband during World War I and for her efforts to modernize the monarchy. Mary played a significant role in royal ceremonies and public engagements, helping to maintain the monarchy's relevance in a changing society. After George V's death in 1936, she became known as the Dowager Queen and remained a respected figure in the royal family until her own death in 1953.
