Martinus Veltman

Martinus Veltman was a Dutch theoretical physicist known for his significant contributions to particle physics, particularly in understanding the behavior of fundamental particles. He played a key role in the development of quantum field theory, which describes how particles interact at the smallest scales. Veltman’s work, notably in the 1970s, helped elucidate the electroweak theory, unifying the electromagnetic force and weak nuclear force. For these contributions, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1999, alongside Tony Skyrme. His research has deepened our understanding of the universe's fundamental forces and particles.
