Martin Marietta was a major American aerospace and defense company, known for building rockets, satellites, and other military and space technology from the 1960s to 1990s. It originated from the merger of Martin Company and American Marietta, combining expertise in engineering, manufacturing, and aerospace systems. The company supplied critical components for NASA's space missions and military aircraft. In 1996, Martin Marietta merged with Lockheed Corporation to form Lockheed Martin, one of the world's largest defense contractors. Today, the name persists in Lockheed Martin’s aerospace and missile divisions, continuing its legacy of innovation in aerospace technology.
