Martial Law

Martial law is a temporary suspension of normal civil rights and government functions, imposed by the military or government authorities during emergencies such as war, civil unrest, or natural disasters. Under martial law, military authorities take control, overriding civilian laws and institutions to restore order and ensure safety. Civil liberties like free speech and assembly may be limited, and military procedures replace civilian ones. It is typically intended as a short-term measure, but can lead to significant changes in governance and individual freedoms until normal constitutional processes are restored.
