Marine Iguanas
Marine iguanas are unique reptiles native to the Galápagos Islands, distinguished by their ability to forage in the ocean. They have strong claws for holding onto rocks and a flattened tail for swimming. These iguanas feed primarily on algae and seaweed, which they scrape off rocks with their sharp teeth. Adapted to a marine lifestyle, they can withstand cold water and often bask in the sun to regulate their body temperature. Despite their rugged appearances, they are gentle creatures and play a vital role in their ecosystem by controlling algae growth on coral reefs.
