Maragha Observatory
The Maragha Observatory, established in 1259 in Iran under the Mongol ruler Hulagu Khan, was one of the most advanced astronomical centers of the medieval Islamic world. It featured innovative instruments for precise star and planetary observations, helping to improve astronomical models. The observatory's work greatly influenced the development of astronomy, complementing earlier Persian and Greek traditions. Its contributions laid groundwork for future scientists and helped preserve and expand scientific knowledge during a time when Europe was just beginning to develop its own astronomical research.
