Maori culture (Ngai Tahu)
Ngāi Tahu is a Māori iwi (tribe) from the South Island of New Zealand, known for its rich cultural heritage and deep connection to the land and sea. Their culture emphasizes strong family ties, spirituality, and a profound respect for the environment, reflected in their traditions, language (te reo Māori), and art. Ngāi Tahu also maintains a unique history, having signed the Ngāi Tahu Claim Settlement Act in 1998, which acknowledged historical grievances. Today, they actively engage in cultural preservation, ensuring their beliefs, practices, and values continue to thrive within contemporary society.
