Mansonella

Mansonella is a group of parasitic worms transmitted to humans through bites of infected tiny flies called midges. Once inside the body, these worms live primarily in the skin and body tissues, where they can cause mild or no symptoms, or sometimes lead to swelling, skin rashes, or discomfort. The infections are usually found in tropical and subtropical regions. Diagnosis typically involves blood tests or identifying worms in tissue samples. While often not serious, effective treatments are available to eliminate the worms and reduce symptoms, helping prevent further spread of the infection.
