Mahendra Singh Tikait (farmers' leader)

Mahendra Singh Tikait was a prominent Indian farmers' leader and the president of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Indian Farmers' Union). Born in 1935 in Uttar Pradesh, he became a key figure in advocating for farmers' rights and issues, particularly concerning land reforms and agricultural policies. Tikait played a significant role in mobilizing farmers, organizing protests, and voicing their concerns, especially during the 1980s and 1990s. He passed away in 2011.
