Maharaja of Jodhpur
The Maharaja of Jodhpur was the traditional ruler of the princely state of Jodhpur in India, part of the larger region now known as Rajasthan. As a monarch, he held significant authority over local affairs, land, and governance, often symbolizing regional culture and history. The title "Maharaja" means "great king" and was awarded by the British during colonial rule. After India gained independence in 1947, the princely states, including Jodhpur, integrated into the Indian republic, and the hereditary monarchy's political power diminished, though the Maharaja remains a notable historical and cultural figure.
