Magnetic Flux Leakage

Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL) is a non-destructive testing technique used to detect flaws in ferromagnetic materials, such as pipelines or storage tanks. When the material is magnetized, a uniform magnetic field is generated. If there are cracks, corrosion, or other defects, the magnetic field leaks out of the material at these points, creating a detectable signal. Sensors detect this leakage to identify and locate imperfections without damaging the structure. MFL is valuable for ensuring safety and maintenance by providing a rapid and accurate assessment of the integrity of metal assets.
