Magellan's Voyage

Magellan's Voyage was a historic expedition (1519-1522) led by Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan to find a westward route to Asia. Starting from Spain, his fleet navigated around South America via the treacherous Strait of Magellan, then across the Pacific Ocean. Although Magellan was killed in the Philippines, his remaining ships continued westward and eventually reached the Spice Islands (Indonesia). The voyage proved that the Earth is round and connected, demonstrating the vast size of the world. Only one ship, the Victoria, completed the journey, marking it as the first to circumnavigate the globe.
