Lyme borreliosis
Lyme borreliosis, commonly known as Lyme disease, is an infection caused by the bacterium *Borrelia burgdorferi*, transmitted through the bite of infected black-legged ticks. Common signs include an expanding red rash often resembling a bull's-eye, fever, fatigue, and muscle aches. If untreated, it can spread to joints, the heart, and nervous system, leading to more serious health issues. Early detection and antibiotic treatment are typically effective. Preventive measures include avoiding tick-infested areas, using insect repellent, and checking for ticks after outdoor activities.
