Lydians
The Lydians were an ancient civilization that lived in the region of Lydia, located in what is now western Turkey, around the 7th century BCE. They are best known for their significant contributions to trade and economy, particularly as one of the first cultures to use coins, which facilitated commerce. Lydians were ruled by powerful kings, the most famous being King Croesus, known for his immense wealth. Their culture was influenced by the nearby Greek city-states, and they are also remembered for their advancements in art and architecture. The Lydians eventually fell to the Persian Empire in the 6th century BCE.
