Lucy the Elephant is a six-story, 90-ton structure located in Margate City, New Jersey. Built in 1881 as a seaside attraction, she was designed to promote real estate sales. Standing 65 feet tall, Lucy resembles an elephant and features a staircase for visitors to climb inside and enjoy panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean. Over the years, she has served various purposes, including a restaurant and a gift shop. Today, Lucy is a National Historic Landmark and a symbol of architectural novelty, attracting tourists and preserving a piece of Americana.
