Loyalist Regiments
Loyalist regiments were military units composed of colonists—often called Loyalists—who supported Britain during the American Revolutionary War. These troops remained loyal to the British Crown and fought alongside British forces against the revolutionaries seeking independence. Loyalist regiments played a significant role in defending British interests, maintaining control in certain areas, and helping to suppress the rebellion. Many of these soldiers faced hardship and displacement after the war, with some relocating to Canada or other British territories. Their service highlights the divided loyalties among colonists during this tumultuous period.
