Lowland clans

Lowland clans are traditional Scottish family groups primarily originating from the Scottish Lowlands region. Unlike the Highland clans, which are often associated with mountainous areas and distinct tartans, Lowland clans tend to be rooted in the flatter, southern parts of Scotland. They functioned historically as social units, with shared surnames, heritage, and sometimes territorial ties, offering a sense of identity and community. While they may not have the same clan-centric structures as Highland clans, Lowland clans emphasize family history, regional pride, and collective heritage within Scottish culture.
