Louis XVIII (King Louis XVIII of France)

Louis XVIII was the king of France from 1814 to 1824, with a brief interruption during Napoleon’s Hundred Days in 1815. He was the brother of Louis XVI and became king after Napoleon’s defeat. Louis aimed to restore stability and traditional monarchy by balancing earlier revolutionary changes with concessions to modern needs. His reign was marked by efforts to unify France, restore the church’s influence, and stabilize the economy. Despite facing challenges from liberal and conservative factions, he maintained a relatively moderate approach, helping to restore legitimacy and pave the way for a more constitutional monarchy.
