LORAN-C

LORAN-C, short for Long Range Navigation, is a radio navigation system used primarily by ships and aircraft to determine their position. It works by measuring the time it takes for radio signals from multiple ground stations to reach a receiver. By calculating these time differences, the receiver can pinpoint its location. Although LORAN-C was widely used, its popularity declined with the advent of GPS technology, which provides even more accurate positioning. LORAN-C remains a backup option for some users, particularly in areas where GPS signals are weak or unreliable.
