Longitude and Latitude (coordinate system)
Longitude and latitude are coordinates used to pinpoint locations on Earth's surface. Latitude lines run east-west and measure how far north or south a place is from the Equator, which is at 0°. Values range from 0° at the Equator to 90° North at the North Pole and 90° South at the South Pole. Longitude lines run north-south and measure how far east or west a place is from the Prime Meridian, which is at 0° in Greenwich, England. Longitude values go up to 180° east or west. Together, these coordinates precisely specify any point on Earth.
