London Fog

London Fog refers to a combination of smoke and fog that historically plagued London, particularly in the 19th and early 20th centuries. This phenomenon was primarily caused by burning coal for heating and industrial activities, which released pollutants into the air. When mixed with moist, cool air, these pollutants created thick, toxic smog that reduced visibility and posed health risks. The infamous Great Smog of 1952, which lasted several days and caused thousands of deaths, led to increased awareness of air pollution and ultimately prompted public health reforms and environmental legislation in the UK.
