Logics and Syllogisms

Logic is the study of reasoning and arguments, helping us determine whether conclusions follow correctly from premises. A syllogism is a specific type of logical argument with two premises and a conclusion. For example, "All humans are mortal" (premise), "Socrates is human" (premise), so "Socrates is mortal" (conclusion). Syllogisms help clarify thinking by showing whether an argument is valid—if the premises are true, the conclusion must be true. They are foundational tools for clear, consistent reasoning used in philosophy, science, law, and everyday decision-making.
