Live Attenuated Vaccines
Live attenuated vaccines are made from pathogens that have been weakened so they can't cause disease in healthy people. They mimic a natural infection, prompting the immune system to build a strong defense against future infections. These vaccines often provide long-lasting immunity with just one or two doses. Common examples include the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine. While effective, they are typically not recommended for individuals with weakened immune systems, as there is a small risk of reverting to a stronger form of the pathogen.
