Lipolysis

Lipolysis is the process where stored fat in your body's fat cells is broken down into smaller molecules called glycerol and free fatty acids. This occurs when your body needs energy, especially between meals or during exercise. Hormones like adrenaline and cortisol signal fat cells to initiate lipolysis, releasing these molecules into the bloodstream so they can be transported to organs like muscles, where they are used as fuel. Essentially, lipolysis is your body's way of converting stored fat into usable energy to maintain activity and bodily functions.
