Linear Pottery Culture
The Linear Pottery Culture, or Linear Band Pottery Culture (LBK), was an early Neolithic society that existed around 5500 to 4500 BCE in Central Europe. It is named for its distinctive pottery decorated with linear patterns. LBK people were among the first to farm the land, growing crops like wheat and barley, and herding animals such as cattle and pigs. They built small villages with longhouses made of wood and clay. Their innovations contributed significantly to the shift from hunting and gathering to farming, laying important groundwork for future European societies.
