LimeWire

LimeWire was a popular file-sharing program that allowed users to connect directly with each other to share digital files such as music, videos, and documents over the internet. Operating on peer-to-peer (P2P) technology, it enabled users to search for and download files from multiple sources simultaneously, making sharing quick and efficient. Launched in 2000, LimeWire gained widespread usage but also faced legal issues due to copyright infringement concerns. It was ultimately shut down in 2010 following legal actions. LimeWire played a significant role in digital media sharing, influencing how people exchanged files online before the rise of streaming services.
