Liberty Party

The Liberty Party was a political group in the United States formed in the 1840s dedicated to ending slavery and promoting civil rights. It was one of the first parties explicitly focused on abolition, advocating for the immediate emancipation of enslaved people and equal rights. The party sought to influence national policy through elections and was a precursor to later civil rights movements. While it never gained widespread electoral success, the Liberty Party played a significant role in raising awareness about slavery and helping shift public opinion toward abolition.
