Liberation of France

The Liberation of France occurred during World War II, mainly in 1944, when Allied forces, including the U.S., Britain, and Free French troops, reclaimed France from Nazi occupation. After years of Nazi control, the Allies launched a massive invasion called D-Day on June 6, 1944, landing on Normandy’s beaches. Over subsequent months, they pushed inland, liberating cities like Paris and restoring French sovereignty. This marked a turning point in the war, ending four years of Nazi rule and beginning the process of defeating Germany in Europe.
