Lettrist International
The Lettrist International was an avant-garde art and revolutionary group founded in 1952 by a collective of French and Italian artists and poets. Influenced by the earlier Lettrism movement, they aimed to radically challenge traditional art, literature, and social structures through experimental performance, poetry, and visual art. Their work emphasized the use of letters and sounds as artistic elements, often blending art with political activism. The group played a significant role in the development of avant-garde movements like Situationism and influenced later performance art and radical cultural practices. They sought to provoke thought, inspire change, and break down conventional artistic and societal boundaries.
