Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction (LVEF)

Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction (LVEF) is a measurement that shows how well the left chamber of the heart (the left ventricle) pumps blood out to the body with each heartbeat. It is expressed as a percentage; for example, an LVEF of 55% means that the heart pumps out 55% of the blood in the ventricle during each beat. A normal LVEF indicates effective heart function, while a lower percentage may suggest weakened heart muscle, which can lead to symptoms like fatigue or shortness of breath and requires medical attention.
