Lead climbing

Lead climbing is a type of rock climbing where the climber ascends a route while attaching their safety rope to protection points along the way. As they climb, they clip the rope into these anchors to secure themselves. If they fall, they are caught by the rope, which catches their fall and prevents them from falling all the way to the ground. The climber continually clips in as they ascend, with the goal of reaching the top or the next designated stopping point before descending or continuing upward.
