Layer 1, often referred to as the Physical Layer, is the first layer in the OSI (Open Systems Interconnection) model of networking. It involves the hardware technologies used to transmit and receive data. This includes cables, switches, and the electrical signals or optical signals that carry information across networks. Essentially, it’s the foundation of communication, focusing on how data physically moves through devices and connections, ensuring that information can travel between computers and other networked devices effectively.
