Law Lords
Law Lords, formally known as Lords of Appeal in Ordinary, were senior judges in the UK who served as the highest court of appeal before the UK's judicial system reorganized in 2009. They sat in the House of Lords and made decisions on complex legal cases, effectively acting as the country’s top judges. Their role ensured consistency and clarity in UK law. Since then, their judicial functions have been transferred to the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom, which now serves as the highest court in the country.
