Laryngeal papillomatosis
Laryngeal papillomatosis is a condition where benign (non-cancerous) growths called papillomas develop in the larynx (voice box) due to infection with the human papillomavirus (HPV). These growths can cause hoarseness, breathing difficulties, and changes in voice. While usually seen in children and young adults, it can occur at any age. Treatment often involves surgical removal of the papillomas, but they can recur. Management may require ongoing monitoring and additional treatments to keep the airway clear and preserve voice quality. Regular check-ups with an ear, nose, and throat specialist are essential for affected individuals.
