Lamian War

The Lamian War (202 BCE) was a conflict in ancient Greece where city-states like Athens and others united against the recovering Macedonian empire led by Antigonus III and later Antigonus II. After Alexander the Great’s death, Greece sought to resist Macedonian dominance, but Macedonia aimed to reassert control following earlier setbacks. The war ended with a Macedonian victory, restoring their influence over Greece but limiting their expansion. It was a pivotal moment that highlighted the fragile balance of power in the Hellenistic world and the struggles of Greek city-states to maintain independence amid larger imperial ambitions.
