Lake Toba

Lake Toba is a large, scenic volcanic crater lake on the island of Sumatra in Indonesia. It was formed about 75,000 years ago during a massive volcanic eruption that created a caldera, a large volcanic bowl. The lake is roughly 100 kilometers long and 30 kilometers wide, making it one of the largest volcanic lakes in the world. Inside the caldera is Samosir Island, often called the “island within an island,” adding to the lake’s unique landscape. Lake Toba is a popular destination for visitors seeking natural beauty, hot springs, and cultural experiences with local Batak communities.
