Lahore Durbar

The Lahore Durbar was the powerful court and administrative center of the Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s Sikh Empire in the early 19th century, located in Lahore, Punjab. It functioned as both a political hub and a symbol of Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s authority, where officials, generals, and courtiers gathered to make decisions and manage the empire’s affairs. The Durbar played a key role in consolidating Sikh power and fostering diplomatic relationships. Its influence extended over political, military, and cultural aspects of the empire until its decline after Ranjit Singh’s death, leading to the eventual integration of Punjab into British India.
