Labral tear

A labral tear involves damage to the cartilage ring called the labrum that surrounds the shoulder or hip socket. The labrum helps stabilize the joint and cushion its surfaces. Tears can occur from injury, repetitive movements, or degeneration over time. Symptoms often include pain, a catching or locking sensation, and decreased joint stability or range of motion. Diagnosis typically involves imaging tests like MRI. Treatment may range from physical therapy and rest to minimally invasive procedures such as arthroscopic surgery to repair or remove the torn tissue, aiming to restore joint stability and reduce discomfort.
