Laager
A laager is a protective formation used historically by military units, especially in Southern Africa, where soldiers would arrange their wagons or vehicles tightly together in a circle or square. This defensive setup creates a barrier against attacks and provides mutual protection, allowing soldiers to defend from all sides. The term originally described this tactic employed by the Bantu-speaking peoples and later adapted by colonial and military forces to create a secure, fortified position. It’s essentially a communal defensive strategy that maximizes safety and maintainability during periods of vulnerability in unfamiliar or hostile environments.
