La Crisis del 98
La Crisis del 98, also known as the Spanish-American War of 1898, was a conflict between Spain and the United States primarily over Cuba's independence and the U.S. interests in the Caribbean and Pacific. Spain's colonial rule in Cuba faced growing unrest, and the U.S. intervened after the explosion of the USS Maine in Havana Harbor, blaming Spain. The war resulted in Spain losing its last major colonies—including Cuba, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Philippines—marking the end of Spain’s imperial empire and establishing the U.S. as a major global power.
