Kuhlthau’s Information Search Process
Kuhlthau's Information Search Process is a framework that describes how individuals search for information. It consists of six stages: Initiation, Selection, Exploration, Formulation, Collection, and Search Closure. Initially, a person identifies a need for information, chooses a topic, and begins to explore various sources. As they engage with the information, their understanding evolves, leading to more focused questions and collection of relevant details. Finally, the individual evaluates their findings and concludes their search, feeling a sense of accomplishment. This process highlights the emotional and cognitive aspects of effective information seeking.
