Korean history
Korean history spans thousands of years, beginning with early kingdoms like Gojoseon around 2333 BCE. Throughout the centuries, Korea developed rich cultural traditions and was often divided into northern and southern regions. It was unified under kingdoms such as Goguryeo, Baekje, and Silla, with Buddhism and Confucianism shaping society. Dynasties like Joseon (1392–1897) fostered cultural achievements and strict social hierarchies. Korea faced invasions, colonization by Japan (1910–1945), and subsequent division into North and South Korea after World War II. Today, it is a technologically advanced, culturally vibrant peninsula with a complex, resilient history.
