Kon-Tiki expedition

The Kon-Tiki expedition was a famous voyage in 1947 led by Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdahl. He set out to demonstrate that ancient peoples could have made long sea journeys from South America to the islands of the Pacific using a simple raft. Heyerdahl and his crew constructed the raft, named Kon-Tiki, from balsa wood and sailed over 4,300 miles across the Pacific Ocean for 101 days. Their journey aimed to challenge traditional views of pre-Columbian oceanic travel and showcased the potential of primitive technology in navigation. The expedition gained worldwide attention and highlighted the capabilities of ancient maritime cultures.
