Kliment of Ohrid
Kliment of Ohrid was a medieval Bulgarian scholar, missionary, and saint who lived in the 9th century. He co-founded the Ohrid Literary School and contributed significantly to the development of Slavic literacy and culture, particularly through translating religious texts into the Slavic language. His work helped establish the Cyrillic alphabet, which is used in many Slavic countries today. As a bishop, he promoted education, literacy, and the Christian faith across the Balkans. Kliment is venerated as a saint in the Eastern Orthodox Church for his contributions to Slavic culture and Christian faith.
