Kip Thorne (physicist)
Kip Thorne is a renowned American physicist best known for his contributions to the fields of gravitational physics and astrophysics. He played a pivotal role in the development of the theory of black holes and gravitational waves. Thorne's work helped lay the groundwork for the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO), which in 2015 made the groundbreaking discovery of gravitational waves, confirming a major prediction of Albert Einstein’s theory of general relativity. Thorne has also authored popular science books and was a co-producer of the Oscar-winning film "Interstellar," which incorporates scientific concepts about black holes and time travel.
