Kingdom of Hejaz
The Kingdom of Hejaz was a historic region in the western part of what is now Saudi Arabia, primarily along the Red Sea coast. It existed as a semi-autonomous monarchy from 1916 until 1925, led by the Hashemite family, and was known for its Islamic holy sites, including Mecca and Medina. The kingdom played a significant role during the decline of the Ottoman Empire and early 20th-century Arab nationalist movements. In 1925, it was absorbed into the expanding Saudi state, marking the end of its independent status. The region holds deep religious and cultural significance in the Arab and Muslim worlds.
